You're in Steeler Country.jpg

3.gifWild and crazy fans surrounding "You're in Steeler Country" and "Blitzburgh" banners, frantically waving "Terrible Towels",  Steelers flags and banners wearing their game-day battle gear!  They show we're the best fans anywhere.  Opponents hate seeing the intimidating throng of black and gold, especially when we equal or outnumber their home stadium fans!

The pictures below are from my '98 trip to "The Burgh", the Ma' Afala family's '01 high school graduation party for Albert Ma' Afala Sr.'s daughter, and my '01 trip to Austin TX to see their fan club I was in for a game at the two sports bars they go to.

Steelers fans rushed to get free autographs from Steelers Alumni, sitting from right to left - FB Steve Avery, OT Tunch Ilkin, TE/OT Larry Brown, C/G Emil Boures, and LB Robin Cole. The '98 Kickoff Lunch at the DoubleTree Hotel included a silent auction/raffle, '97 season highlight video, Steelers radio announcers Myron Cope & Bill Hillgrove, Art Rooney II, head coach Bill Cowher, the team/coaches, and fans from across the U.S, all for just $40!

5.gifAnthony D' A., His Son Alec, Lisa A., Bill P.

Of the many mainland fans we met in the '01 season, they're from "The Burgh"!!  Anthony D' A. and Lisa A. are past National Sales Director and current Manager of Convention Host Development for the Greater Pittsburgh Convention and Visitors Bureau, respectively.  Bill P. is the Pittsburgh Chapter of Meeting Professionals International past President.  Their MPI convention was in Hawai'i, so they visited our almost 50 Steeler fans at All-Star with four fans from Pittsburgh, giving the Ravens playoff-demolition a Pittsburgh feel.   "The Terrible Towel" covered Alec, while Bill and I did the Hawaiian "Shaka/Hang Loose" hand sign.   I sported a classic foam mock steel girter  "Steelhead".  Lisa and Anthony keep in touch, sending us "Burgh" goodies/info. to bring Pittsburgh spirit to Hawai'i now and in the future!
